National Skill Development Mission

The National Skill Development Mission (NSDM), introduced by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, aims “to rapidly scale up youth skill development in India, by creating an end-to-end, outcome-focused implementation framework, which aligns demands of the employers for a well-trained skilled workforce with aspirations of Indian citizens for sustainable livelihoods”.

By laying emphasis on the Skill Development and the creative potential of each individual, the National Education Policy2020 (NEP-2020) proposes to align its action plan with the aspirational goals of 21st-century education, which will help India realise the full potential of its demographic dividend. The policy envisages that by 2025, at least 50 percent of the learners through the school and higher education system shall have exposure to vocational education.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has also identified the Beauty and Wellness as one the key potential skill development and vocational training in various beauty courses and introduced at the middle schooling in different categories of schools in the country, including government schools, public-aided schools, private schools, schools being run as per the public-private partnership (PPP) model, and army public schools etc
